Labour - varies by region, but in Leeds, I was advised: Unskilled: 90-100/day, skilled: 120-150/day, specialist: 180day (eg a good tiler).
We rely on advertising to help fund our award-winning journalism.
I usually have a starting price.00 for domestic (pending on wot the job is and the size and i'm there for about an hour.Heating: 2k for a new WB boiler, inc fitting and old tanks/pipes removing.Or B Q are quite well stocked (esp if they still do their OAP discount days - excellent value).Kitchen: Basic plumbing changes for 200parts.Spent quite a bit tho on machinery. You have to advertise tho.I used to be cynical about Ikea but their kitchens are pretty good IF you screw them together right and take your time. Some of these jobs are best past on to older person (OAP)as they potter around!I offer a fixed price on everything.
All I do now is cut grass and cut back.
Oh Yeah, be careful of the people with money.
Easy DIY, aside perhaps from cutting the worksurface (most retailers do it for free though I think).Bathroom: for a reasonable suite, 2-3 days to install depending on the work to knock out first and amount of tiling/plumbing/ services to move.It mote be a good idea 4 u to stay with small lawns first. My business picked up almost straight away and progressed thru-out the year.I started up 2 years ago. There's so many gardeners out there that charge hourly and they poodle about the garden in order to get more money out of the client.Saves a lot, but the good guys are often over the threshold as they have multiple staff and are a small business rather than a one man band.Decor: most things can be DIYd - steam strippers for most papers, prepping and lining paper painting isn't that hard and will save you 1000's.You can then estimate how far off they are, or if they are taking the piddle.
Worcester Bosch web site for approved installers - will be cheaper than British Gas and you get 5-7 years warranty.
Don't waste your money on the B Q Crap, cos it won't last 5 minutes.
Try m/ for local good guys.
